On January 10th, the North Jersey Avalanche looked to achieve their first win of the new year against the New Jersey Renegades.
During the first period, both teams were scoreless.
“We started out pretty slow,” says Avalanche’s defenseman Hadley Marin. “We picked it up and things started to come together for us.”
Liam McLaughlin and Vinny Addeo were able to score in the second period.
“When Liam scored we were all pretty happy since it was his birthday. We came together around that and didn’t stop working. It payed off for us as we scored again and again to end up winning 3-0.” said Marin.
With a second left in the third period, Eric L’Heureux scored on an empty net power play.
Stephen Zabrowski, Avalanche’s forward says, “It was a great first win after the holiday break. Obviously we still have a lot to work on, but it was a good win to come back to.”
The Avalanche looked great against the Renegades with their lines on point.
Tom Palestina a forward for the Avalanche said, “We had all four lines going and that’s definitely a strength we have that many teams do not. I also thought my line played particularly well; we worked the puck down low in the offensive zone and won the battles that we needed to resulting in offensive success.”
Ultimately, the Renegades goalie Jordan Lorah, was unable to keep the Avalanche from scoring. The Avalanche won their first game of the new year in a shutout 3-0.
Matt Kandel from the Avalanche says, “It came down to teamwork for the win. We are a strong team when we have everybody buy in and that is how we generate success.”
Peace, love, toodles.
